Udupi/M’Belle: Christmas Celebration in St. Lawrence Educational Institutions

Udupi/M’Belle, 23 Dec 2020: In spite of the depressing atmosphere due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, the staff members of all St. Lawrence Educational Institutions, Moodubelle - Church Aided Higher Primary School, St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School, St. Lawrence English Medium High School and St. Lawrence PU College celebrated Christmas on Wednesday, 22 December from 11.30 am to 1.30 pm in the ground floor hall of St. Lawrence English Medium High School.
The Christmas celebration commenced with all the members savoring the taste of ‘Kuswaar’ prepared by the members themselves.
Dr. Kanaradi Vadiraj Bhat-Retired Principal of Sharada College, Basroor who is an alumnus of the Church Aided Higher Primary School and St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School was the chief guest. Fr. Vijay Machado-Director of Mangala Jyothi, Mangalore who conducted a seminar for all the staff members of soft skills from 9.30 am till 11.30 am was the guest of honour. Other dignitaries included:Sr. Irene Viegas-Headmistress of the Church Aided Higher Primary School, Mrs. Sunitha Kamath-Headmistress of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School, Br. Philip Noronha-Principal of St. Lawrence English medium High School and Larsen Edward D’Souza-Principal of St. Lawrence PU College.
The Christmas celebration started with the dignitaries lighting the lamp and prayer song.
Sr. Irene Viegas conducted brief prayer service appropriate for the Christmas season.
Principal Larsen Edward D’Souza welcomed the gathering.
Groups of staff members from different educational institutions sang Christmas Carols in Kannada, Konkani and English.
The entrance of Santa Claus enhanced the Christmas spirit of the day.
Mrs. Sunitha Kamath introduced the chief guest of the programme - Dr. Kanaradi Vadiraj Bhat.
In his message, Dr. Vadiraj Bhat stressed on the development of good feelings about one’s fellowmen irrespective of their castes or creed. He stressed on the belief in one God that has been found in the scriptures of all religions. Dr. Bhat also emphasized on the need to promote harmony and goodwill among the neighbours and other fellow human beings. He appreciated the fact that there has been good harmony and brotherhood in the village which he has been experiencing since his childhood. He conveyed the Christmas greetings to all the staff members.
Br. Philip Noronha proposed the vote of thanks.
Mrs. Joyce D’Sa compeered the programme.
