Udupi: Lions District Governor Ln. N.M. Hegde Pays Official Visit to Lions Club, Moodubelle

Udupi/M’Belle, 17 Dec 2020: Governor Ln. N.M. Hegde of Lions District 317C paid official visit to the Lions Club, Moodubelle on Thursday, 17 December 2020 during which he laid the foundation stone for the new bus stop at the Red Hill-Padubelle cross road and celebrated Christmas along with the Lions members and their families in the premises of the Lions Seva Bhavan, Moodubelle.

 

Governor Ln. N.M. Hegde and his wife were received by Ln. Anil D’Mello-President of the Lions Club, Moodubelle and  Mrs. Diana D’Mello by offering them flower bouquets. Thereafter, Governor Ln. N.M. Hegde laid the foundation stone for the new bus stop at 6.20 pm in the presence of the members of the Lions Club of Moodubelle.

 

The Christmas celebration was organized in the premises of the newly renovated Lions Seva Bhavan. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas-Parish Priest of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle was the chief guest along with Governor Ln. N.M. Hegde.

 

The Leo members presented Christmas Carols.

 

The entrance of Satna Claus on the scooter and his interaction with the children and the audience was the added attraction of the night.

 

Fr. Clement Mascarenhas along with the dignitaries cut the Christmas Cake and spread the sweetness and mirth of the Christmas season.

 

In his Christmas message, Fr. Clement Mascarenhas highlighted the significance of the festival of Christmas and stressed on the fact that the essence of the teachings of Jesus Christ ‘love thy neighbor as you love yourself’ has been relevant to all times as it emphasizes the spirit of humanity.

 

 

The stage function was presided over by Ln. Anil D’Mello-President of  the Lions Club, Moodubelle. Other dignitaries on the dais included Lions District Governor, Ln. N.M. Hegde and his wife, Mrs. Diana D’Mello, PDG Ln. Wilfred D’Souza, Ln. Devdas Hebbar-Secretary, Ln. Nevill D’Souza-Treasurer, Ln. Stephen Castelioon-Region Chairman, Ln. Rajendra Shetty-Zone Chairman, Leo Joyce Fernandes-President of the Leo Club.

 

On this occasion Charter Nite was observed by the Governor garlanding the frame of the list of the Charter members. Three Charter members-Ln. Devdas Hebabr, Ln. Elias Lobo and Ln. Cyril D’Souza were honoured by the governor by presenting them roses.

 

The Leo members who had raised Rs. 58,000/- for the renovation of the Lions Seva Bhavan were felicitated by the Governor.

 

Two Leo members who had entered into matrimonial alliances recently were also honoured on this occasion. These were: Leo Melrin who married Caroline on 21 November 2020 and Leo Vinisha who married Arshith on  9 December 2020.

 

Parents of Vinisha, Mr and Mrs Sudhakar Amin were honoured for sponsoring the dinner on the occasion of the official visit of the District Governor.

 

District Governor, Ln. N.M. Hegde in his address complimented the Lions Club, Moodubelle for renovating the Lions Seva Bhavan in an excellent manner and appreciated the facilities provided to the new complex. He also highlighted the contribution of Lions Clubs International to socio-economic development of the downtrodden and marginalized theoughout the world, especially during the dark days of the Corona crisis.

 

 

Governor, Ln. N.M. Hegde inducted Rev. Noel P. Karkera, Pastor of Church of South India and advocate by profession sponsored by Ln. Pritesh D’Sa as the new member of the Liosn Club of Moodubelle.

 

The new members who were inducted in the year 2020-21 were given certificates and pins by the Governor.

 

PDG Ln. Wilfred D’Souza and Ln. Neri Cornelio appreciated the various service activities conducted by the Lions Club of Moodubelle.

 

Governor Ln. N.M. Hegde awarded medals of appreciation to the President Ln. Anil D’Mello, Secretary-Ln. Devdas Hebbar, Treasurer-Ln. Nevill D’Souza, Zone Chairman-Ln. Rajendra Shetty, District Leo Coordinator Ln. Gerald Fernandes, Region Secretary-Ln. Elias D’Souza and Cabinet member Ln. Elias Lobo.

 

The Lion and Leo members who were born in the month of December celebrated their birthdays by cutting the cake.

 

Larsen Edward D’Souza who took charge as the Principal of St. Lawrence PU College, Moodubelle was honoured by Ln. Anil D’Mello.

 

Ln. Anil D’Mello welcomed the guests, Ln. Nevill D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks, Ln. Devdas Hebbar read the report of the activities of the Lions Club of Moodubelle, Lioness Lavina Noronha recited the Flag salutation and Ln. Wilson D’Souza compeered the entire programme.
