Contemporary social reformer Kanakadasa’s psalms worthy to emulate – Minister Srinivas

Mangaluru, 04 Dec 2020: Kanakadasa was one among the greatest saints of contemporary India, whose preaching is worthy to emulate, said Karnataka fisheries, shipping, religious endowment and DK district in charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.
Poojary was speaking after inaugurating Kanaka Jayanti that was organized jointly by DK district administration, Kannada and culture department at district headquarter here on Thursday December 3.
Kanakadasa, a psalmist who lived in 15-16 century BC was a social reformer who tried to reform the society by his innumerable psalms. In the process, he has enriched Kannada literature, added Poojary.
DK MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said, ‘Kanakadasa tried to cleanse the society of all the evils such as caste system, social injustice, superstitious beliefs etc. His reforms should be guiding star for us,’ said Nalin.
In his presidential addres, DK DC Dr Rajendra called on the gathering to follow the preaching of Kanakadasa in their daily living.
Mangaluru municipal commissioner Sridar, Kannada and culture assistant director Rajesh G, Kuruba community leaders Manjunat Notagar, Dr K E Prakash, Shivanand Yerajeri, Udaya Kumar, Kariappa Gowda, Ravikumar and others were present.
