Newly constructed Canteen and Other Facilities Inaugurated in St. Lawrence EM High School

Udupi/M’Belle, 31 Aug 2020: The newly constructed canteen and other facilities in St. Lawrence English Medium High school, Moodubelle were inaugurated and blessed on Monday, 31 August 2020 in a brief function held at 3.30 pm in the school premises.
The Audio-Visual (AV) facility was inaugurated by Gerald Fernandes-Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council by cutting the ribbon. Prior to the inauguration, Fr. Clement Mascarenhas- Correspondent of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions conducted a brief prayer service and later blessed the facility in the ground floor.
The Automatic School Bell was inaugurated by the School Pupil Leader (SPL 2019-20) Deepak Nayak.
The Power Back Up (Inverter) was inaugurated by its donor, Commodore Jerome Castelino (VSM).
Four renovated classrooms were inaugurated by the alumni-Joy Carvalho, Aidan Menezes, Rosline Menezes, Bleston Aranha and Delson D’Souza.
The newly constructed Canteen facility was inaugurated by Anusha B. Nayak, the topper of SSLC in the school (2019-20).
A brief stage function was held in the Canteen facility that was presided over by Fr. Clement Mascarenhas. Other dignitaries on the dais included: Fr; Jithesh Castelino-Assistant Parish Priest, Gerald Fernandes, Commodore Jerome Castelino, Leeladhar Kamath-President of PTA and Br. Philip Noronha-Principal of St. Lawrence English Medium High School.
On this occasion, 10 students who had secured distinction marks at the SSLC Examination (2019-20) were honoured by Fr. Clement Mascarenhas by placing floral ring over their heads and presenting mementos to them. Sashidhar read the names of these students.
As three SSLC students had secured 100 marks in the Hindi language, their Hindi teacher, Mrs. Maria Barboza was felicitated by Gerald Fernandes.
Fr. Jithesh Castelino honoured Sashidhar, the class teacher of tenth standard for his service to the school.
The donors to various facilities including the construction of the canteen were honoured by Br. Philip Noronha by presenting to them mementos.
Leeladhar Kamath felicitated Vincent Fernandes, the Contractor of the construction of the Canteen and other facilities. He also honoured the eighth standard student, Melcon Aranha who had designed the invitation card of the inauguration of these facilities.
In his presidential address, Fr. Clement Mascarenhas expressed gratitude to all those who had been responsible in realizing the dream of having the canteen and other facilities to the school. These included Commodore Jerome Castelino, Gerald Fernandes, Vincent Fernandes, Br. Philip Noronha, all the donors including alumni of the school, staff members and PT A President Leeladhar Kamath.
Mrs. Maria Barboza compeered the inauguration programme, Br. Philip Noronha welcomed the gathering, Mrs. Rekha D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks and Mrs. Sandra Lobo compeered the stage programme.
