Sathish K Shetty dies in a tragic accident at Al-Sabriya Refinery-Kuwait

Mangaluru, 16 Jun 2020: A resident of Padil, Mangaluru, Sathish Kochu Shetty, aged 47, working at a Oil Refinery in Kuwait, succumbed to injuries on Sunday, 14 June 2020, due to a fire accident that took place on 11 June 2020. Sathish breathed his last after being admitted and getting treatment at a Kuwait hospital, since three days.
As per reports from Kuwait, Sathish who was working in a drilling tower of Al-Sabriya Refinery in Kuwait, died after three days due to burn injuries, after a fire accident at the plant. One more employee working with him was seriously injured, and getting treatment. As per reports of Kuwait Oil Company, the accident took place at dawn on 11 June due to sudden ignition of accompanying gases during drilling operations in the tower, which resulted in a limited fire.
Reports indicate that Sathish Shetty was pronounced dead around 12.30 pm on Sunday, 14 June. Following Sathish’s death, KOC stressed on the keenness of the safety of their workers and the continuity of the Company’s operations, pointing to the formation of a committee to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
Sathish is survived by mother, sister and friends.
