Mangaluru, 31 Mar 2020: The people from across the city rushed to grocery shops and supermarkets, pharmacies to buy essential items as lockdown of Covid-19 was eased on Tuesday, March 31 from 6.00am to 3.00pm.

The shopkeepers were hard pressed to attend to people who queued up bearing scorching heat. The elderly were found in front of pharmacies in long queues pouring onto roads.

The markets in the city witnessed a large number of people. However, social distancing was also maintained and people were seen sitting in the chair a few meters apart from each other maintaining the queue.

Fish markets in the city too witnessed a large number of people.

Meanwhile, in a few super-markets, only 10 people were allowed to enter the shop at a time.

The resilience of people of all walks of life was indeed commendable in these testing times.
