Mangaluru: COVID-19: Medical teams monitor crews at NMPT & passengers at MIA

Mangaluru, 17 Mar: At the outbreak of global COVID-19, more people in city are found to be wearing masks. Meanwhile, healthy people need not wear the masks, said DK DC Sindhu B Rupesh.
Addressing the meeting of entrepreneurs of DK district called to at the backdrop of COVID-19 global pandemic at the district headquarters, here on Monday, March 16, Sindhu said that wearing mask is not compulsory for all. It has to be worn by ill and people who have such symptoms. The care has been taken to have sufficient stock of mask in the district. The drug control department is monitoring the pharmacies to contain stockpiling and charging exorbitant rates other than MRP.
She appealed the industrial units to take precautions against any communicable diseases in their locations. Those who have recent national/international travel history had to be quarantined for 28 days, besides keep watch on their family members especially those above 60 years. The entrepreneurs have to curtail their national and international tours, postpone business meetings for a later date.
The precautionary measures are taken to curb spread of COVID-19. Medical teams are monitoring the tourists/crews arriving at NMPT and passengers at Mangaluru International Airport. Majority of hospitals in district set up isolation wards. Meanwhile, the state-run ESI Hospital in the city fully utilized to curb COVID-19. Similarly, such facility is set up at NMPT Hospital, said Sindhu.
She also urged the owners of all industries in city to monitor health of their employees. The ill workers should be treated at ESI Hospital.
