We the People of India–DK holds Hunger Strike against NPR, sideline of 90th anniversary of Dandi Mar

Mangaluru, 13 Mar: We the People of India – Dakshina Kannada Committee staged hunger strike, in front of Mini Vidhan Soudha, here on Thursday, March 12, to commemorate ‘90th anniversary of Dandi Satyagraha,’ urging BJP-led union government to withdraw National Population Register (NPR) Act.
The Salt March, also known as the Salt Satyagraha, Dandi March and the Dandi Satyagraha, was an act of nonviolent civil disobedience in colonial India led by Mahatma Gandhi against British rulers from March 12, 1930 to April 1, 1930.
We the People of India – DK district president Ummer H inaugurated the hunger strike by administering the forewords of constitution on Thursday at 10.00am. It was concluded at 5.00pm.
The district Muslim Federation president K Ashraf, former MLA J R Lobo, Hyder Partipady, Nazir Ullal, Rafiuddin Kudroli, S Nandagopal, Amir Thumbay, A K Kukkila, Shekar Laila, Willy Wilson, Imtiyaz B K, M G Hegde, Moushir Samanige, Iqbal Bellare, Srikant Salian, Tafleel Uppinangady, advocate Sharfaraj, U H Khalid Ujire and Vidya Dinakar addressed the gathering.
Jamat-e-Hind Karnataka secretary Mohammed Kunhi delivered the valedictory address.
Mangaluru former mayors Sasidar Hegde and Abdul Aziz, corporator Abdul Latif, Abdul Rauf, Samsuddin, Ashraf Bajal, Zeenat Samsad, Samsad Abubaker, Munib Bengre, Atavulla Jokatte, Mustafa,Kempi, Riyaz Farangipet, Abdul Jaleel Krishnapura, K M Sharif, Ameen Ahsan, Sachita S Nandagopal, Ismat Fajir, Harini Shetty, Hussein Katipalla, Rafiq Darimin and others were present.
Later, the delegation of protesters presented a memorandum urging union government to withdraw NPR Act to Karnataka CM through DK Deputy Commissioner.
