Mangaluru: Legal assistance neede to protect victims of domestic violence – Dr Selvamani

Mangaluru, 18 Feb: Women are making their mark in every sphere in the society. The law should come to their rescue in maintaining their dignity, said DK ZP CEO Dr Selvamani R.
Dr Selvamani was speaking during counseling and anti-dowry meeting held at ZP Netravati auditorium, here on Monday, February 17.
She also said, ‘The state-run counseling centers will offer legal assistance to the victims of domestic violence and dowry harassment cases. If the doctors who check the victims and advise hospitalization, such cases will be referred to district Wenlock Hospital where they will be accommodated in a separate room with woman constable assigned for security duty, said Dr Selvamani.
She also instructed women and child welfare officials to clear all cases of dowry harassments at the earliest.
Disrict health and family welfare officer Dr Ramakrishna Rao, women and child welfare deputy director Usman, officials of different departments and others were present.
