Puttur: Diamond Jubilee-Hostel Day celebrated at St Philomena College Men’s Hostel

Puttur, 30 Jan: St Philomena College Men’s Hostel celebrated ‘Diamond Jubilee-Hostel Day’ at Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall of the College, here on January 25.

 

The Bishop of Mangaluru diocese Dr Peter Paul Saldanha inaugurated the celebrations.

 

In his presidential address, bishop said, ‘Education is the prerequisite for the formation of character, knowledge and skills. It is something which gives necessary directions. Every parent is much concerned in acquiring qualitative education for their children. They even make lot of sacrifices for the sake of children. Everyone must leave the place better than that they found it.’

 

 

The MLA of Puttur Sanjeeva Matandoor participated as the chief guest. He said, ‘The educational institutions are aiming at overall development of the students. This hostel has been celebrating its diamond Jubilee. This is a very rare occasion. This hostel has succeeded in producing many great personalities. The present students must get inspiration from the past students.’

 

The principal of District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Walter D’Mello participated as the chief guest. He said, ‘Every student must have vision. Everyone must try to become something in the society. It is the duty of every student to fulfill the dreams of their parents.’

 

The pof St Philomena PU College Fr Vijay Lobo participated as the guest of honor. He said, ‘Discipline, honesty, Justice and hard work always helps in attaining better position in the society.’

 

The campus director Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro participated as the guest of honor. He said, ‘Everybody must try to become good citizens of this nation.’

 

The correspondent of the College Fr Alfred J Pinto expressed his best wishes.

 

The vice president of Mai de dues parish council Maurice Mascarenhas and secretary Fabian Goveas, the president of hostel Shashanka was present on this occasion.

 

On this occasion, achievers and prize winners in various competitions are felicitated.
