St Paul’s Catholic Association commemorates 77th Founders’ Day; Prez Gregory lauds veterans vision

Mumbai, 19 Dec: St Paul’s Catholic Association located opposite of Lion Gate, Fort, here celebrated 77th Founders’ Day recently.

 

The veteran entrepreneur and Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangh Maharashtra® advisory committee member Gregory D’Almeida was the chief guest present.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Gregory said, ‘Mangalureans who had migrated to Mumbai in search of better life, several decades ago realised the need for an accommodation founded the St Paul’s Catholic Association that cared for their lodging in a building opposite Lion Gate, Fort, here.  It was the succour to many community brethrens in pursuing their careers and sustains living. The foresight of our veterans is indeed commendable as we are celebrating 77th year of its existence.’

 

The Association president Stany Fernandes presided the programme.

 

 

The retired income tax top officer Valerian D’Sa, Francis Mathias, Ronald D’Souza Dubai, Mark Menezes and former president Alwyn Coutinho were the guests of honour present at the dais.

 

Planet Tours & Travels proprietor Steven D’Mello released the bulletin commemorating 77th Founders’ Day.

 

Steven D’Mello said, ‘The Association quarters was his first home. Whatever he is today the credit goes to Association. Several brethren’s found sustenance and moved out after excelling in their trade or jobs.’

 

Valerian D’Sa said, ‘The Association is a charitable organization that has been succour to many brethrens when they had arrived in Mumbai.  The cordial relations and shared responsibility helped their shape their lives.’

 

The honorary secretary Richard D’Souza welcomed the gathering.

 

Emilian D’Souza, Anita Peris, Dulcine Cardoza, Harita Swamy, Mark Menezes, Sylvester Peris, Denis Cardoza, Ryan Castelino, Prasad Nazareth, Sheldon D’Mello and others shared Christmas joys and happiness.

 

Fr Avin Fernandes from Chikmagaluru offered Konkani Thanksgiving Mass at Holy Name Cathedral, Woodhouse, Colaba, here before the celebrations.

 

Ivan Fernandes and group led the choir. Alwyn D’Mello and Vivian Machado read the scriptures.

 

Vivian Machado compered the programme. Richard D’Souza proposed vote of thanks.

 

Ivan Fernandes donned Santaclaus to share the joys of Christmas among the gathering.
