Mangaluru: Karnataka state govt sanctions Rs 5 crore to build Konkani Bhavan in city

Mangaluru, 12 Dec: Karnataka state administration sanctioned Rs 5 crore to Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy for building Konkani Bhavan in Mangaluru city.
A sum of Rs 3 crore has already been released, announced Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Dr K Jagadish Pai.
In a press release, Pai said that the Konkani Bhavan was a long pending demand. The requirement was brought to his notice as soon as he was appointed as the president. “I met Kannada, Culture and Tourism minister C T Ravi four times with the demand in Bengaluru. I also met Dakshina Kannada DC Sindhu B Rupesh with the demand and said that the request for the Bhavan is long pending and requested her intervention. On December 10, the Bhavan was approved,” he said.
Pai has expressed his gratitude to chief minister B S Yediyurappa, Kannada, Culture and Tourism minister C T Ravi, DC Sindhu Rupesh, district-in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLA Vedavyasa Kamath for their support and also thanked all those who have worked to make the Konkani Bhavan proposal a reality.
“I am confident that a new and grand Konkani Bhavan will be constructed in Mangaluru soon,” he writes in the release.
