Udupi: Annual Day celebrations of Manasa commence with Sports meet

Udupi/Pamboor, 06 Dec: As part of the Annual Day celebrations Sports meet for the students of Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre, Pamboor was held on Friday, 6 December 2019 at 10 am. Commodore Jerome Castelino (VSM) retired Naval Officer inaugurated the sports meet by hoisting the institution flag and lighting the sports flame.

 

Prior to the flag hoisting the students of Manasa conducted the march fast as the dignitaries accepted the salute. Following the prayer and welcome address by Sr. Ancilla Fernandes, Headmistress of the Institution, Commodore Jerome Castelino hoisted the Institution Flag and thereafter lighted the sports flame with the burning torch carried by sports personalities  who had represented the institution at the national and international level.

 

Addressing the students  on this occasion Commodore Jerome Castelino extended warm greetings to the students, teachers and management on the occasion of the twenty second annual day celebration. He hoped that Manasa which has been serving the society would continue in training and rehabilitating children with an aim of bringing them to the main stream of the society. Commodore Jerome Castelino appealed the students not to think that they are lesser than other children. Many of the students of Manasa have been proving their ability by participating in sporting events at the national and international level. Speaking further Commodore Jerome Castelino said that though there are several other institutions of such type, Manasa has proved to be one of the best institutions that provide rehabilitation and training to the specially abled children.

 

 

Divya, the School Pupil Leader (SPL) of Manasa administered the oath to the students. Thereafter, the dignitaries released coloured balloons formally inaugurating the annual sports meet.

 

Vinaya, one of the teachers of the institution proposed the vote of thanks and Jyothi another teacher compeered the programme.

 

Besides Commodore Jerome Castelino the inauguration of the annual sports meet was attended by Henry Menezes - President of Manasa, Joseph Noronha - Secretary, Sr. Ancilla Fernandes and Mrs. Vanitha Shettigar - President of Parents Teachers Association (PTA).
