Mangaluru, 11 Nov: Inauguration ceremony of newly-installed Mammography machine was held on Friday, November 8 in the department of Radio diagnosis at K S Hegde Charitable Hospital, Deralakatte, here.
Vinay Hegde, chancellor of Nitte (Deemed to be University), Prof Dr M Shantharam Shetty, pro chancellor, Nitte (Deemed to be University) and Dr Jayaprakash Shetty, vice sean, inaugurated the newly-installed machine.
Siemens Mammomat inspiration is a 3D Digital Mammography machine with tomosynthesis and stereotactic biopsy facility. It is a first of its kind in Mangaluru. Dr Shrikrishna, head of the department of Radio diagnosis welcomed the gathering and spoke about International Day of Radiology.
Vinay Hegde urged the people to make use of this facility to detect breast cancer early.
Dr Shantharam Shetty spoke on international day of radiology and this year’s theme of ‘Sports Medicine.’ Talk on ‘Approach to breast lesion: A Radiologist’s Perspective’ by guest speaker Dr Janaki Dharmarajan from Amrita Institute, Kochi.
Vishal Hegde, pro chancellor (admin) of Nitte (Deemed to be University), Rohith Poonja, administrator of Nitte Education Trust, Bengaluru campus, Rajendra M, director of finance and planning, Nitte (Deemed to be University) were also present in this ceremony.
Dr Raghuraj, Associate Professor proposed the vote of thanks.
