Mangaluru, 21 Oct: Take a walk down memory lane; lit with deepas on Deepavali. Those were the days when families sat together making goodu deepas (lanterns) and clay diyas to place in and around their homes. This Friday & Saturday we will see Mangaloreans bring back that beautiful tradition of yore.

The end of this week, on the 25th and 26th of October, The Kadri Rocks Art Gallery, an art and heritage center located in Mangaluru will be conducting their first ever Deepavali Lanterns and diya making workshop. This two-day workshop will be open to all who love and enjoy the rich traditions of the Tulunadu people.

Renowned Craftsmen to conduct workshop

The workshop will be conducted by one of Mangaluru’s renowned lantern/goodu deepa craftsman Pranesh Kudroli along with popular versatile mixed media artist Rajesh Shetty. Kudroli will be helping participants make their own lanterns/goodu deepas while Shetty will be conducting a demo on how to make clay deepas (this will be only a demo since deepas do not dry fast and need time to bake.)

Both the esteemed artists will be conducting the same workshop on both Friday, 25th October and Saturday, 26th October so that their fellow Mangaloreans can attend one of the days according to their convenience.

Details of the workshop

Time – 4:00pm to 7:00pm

Day 2- Saturday, October 26
