Mangaluru: Suicide is not solution for any issue – Judge K Satyanarayana

Mangaluru, 19 Oct: Nothing can be solved by committing suicides, said district and munsif court judge and legal services Authority district president Kadloor Satyanarayana Acharya.

 

Acharya was speaking during World Mental Health Day that was jointly organized by DIET, DK district administration, ZP, district legal services Authority, health and family welfare department, town and district police department, information and PR department, Bar Council – Mangaluru and district Wenlock Hospital, at DIET, here on Thursday, October 18.

 

The World Mental Health Day is observed in this year with the slogan – Let us work together in curbing suicides; while collective efforts will drastically reduce the depressed people from committing suicides, said Acharya.

 

 

He also said, ‘Health is wealth. Total wellbeing is essential for an individual to excel in life Mental health is also correlated in this regard.  No amount of wealth can give peace of mind, added Acharya.

 

In his presidential address, DIET lecturer Cyprian Monteiro said, ‘Now the times have changed in schools unlike in the past. The students are prone to take extreme steps for a slightest of reasons. In order to curb this trend, their mental agility ought to be strengthened in order to face any challenges of their lives. Its not mere the responsibility of government departments to rehabilitate the depressed and drug addicts, in restoring their confidence and bring them back to mainstream of society that got to play its role,’ said Monteiro. 

 

The well known psychiatrist Dr Anirudd Shetty, senior chief civil judge A G Gangadhar, district health and family welfare officer Dr Ramakrishna Rao, district surgeon Dr Rajeshwari Devi, Bar Council president Narasimha Hegde, DIET teachers and students were present.
