Puttur: Library is treasure trove of knowledge – Prof Leo

Puttur, 18 Oct: The Library and Information Centre of St Philomena College, here organized ‘Book Exhibition’ programme at Library Hall, on October 16.
The principal Prof Leo Noronha inaugurated the exhibition and delivered the inaugural address.
He said, ‘Book is the best companion of knowledge seekers. Library plays a pivotal role in higher education. Library is a store house of knowledge and information. Librarian is a person who always extends his helping hand to the readers. The faculties and the students must cultivate the habit of visiting the library in regular manner.’
The selection grade librarian Abdul Rehman G welcomed the gathering and delivered the introductory speech.
He said, ‘This library is well equipped with Text books, General books, Reference books, Literature and Value education books, periodicals, bound volumes of journals, news papers and educational CD/DVDs. It is computerized and library database is created using Integrated Library Management Software EASYLIB. Barcode technology is used for easy transaction. In this exhibition, newly arrived text books, reference books and general books are displayed.’
The library staff Zita Noronha, Catherine Crasta, Peter Clifford D’Souza and library advisory committee members Dr Chandrashekar K, Premalatha K, Geetha Poornima K coordinated the programme.
