Bantwal: 98 youth attend Konkani Traditional Singing Course held by Mandd Sobhann

Bantwal, 23 Sep: The Closing Ceremony of the Konkani Traditional Songs Course, organized by Mandd Sobhann in association with Holy Redeemer parish Choir, Agrar, here was held on Sundaym September 22.
Mandd Sobhann coordinator - Naveen Lobo and the vice president of Holy Redeemer parish council, Agrar - Pius Rodrigues handed over certificates to the participants who had completed the course, held at the Agrar parish hall.
Mandd Sobhann Gurkar - Eric Ozario, Agrar parish council secretary - Vincent Carlo and Choir president - Clementine Noronha, were present on the dais.
Anita D’Sa emerged the best trainee and was awarded a cash prize of Rs 1000. Alban D’Souza and Anita D’Sa shared their experiences.
Mandd Sobhann Gurkar - ’Vishwa Konkani Kala Ratn’ Eric Ozario not only taught the participants various Konkani traditional songs, but also gave information about their importance, the way in which they evolved and the right way to sing them. 35 Konkani songs, which included - the Bantwal Manddo, gumott songs, dekhnni, medleys of songs composed by legendary Konkani singers, voviyos and verses and lullabies. Jaison Lobo, Dealle D’Souza and Olita Pinto assisted in singing, while Alron Rodrigues backed on the keyboard.
Jasmine Lobo compered the programme while the organizer - Pritha Sequeira, presented the vote of thanks.
Nine-eight participants from Agrar, Loretto and Farla parishes benefited from the training.
This training has already been held at Mangaluru, Honnavar and Kaikamba.
