Puttur: St Philomena College to host Inter-collegiate Football Tourney from Sep 23 to 26

Puttur, 21 Sep: St Philomena College, here in collaboration with Mangalore University department of physical education will host ‘B Sadananda & Vamana’ Memorial Mangalore University Inter Collegiate Foot Ball Tournament 2019-20.

 

Puttur MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor will inaugurate the tournament on Monday, September 23 at 10.30am.

 

The chairman of DK District Football Association D M Aslam will participate as the chief guest.

 

The principal Prof Leo Noronha, director of physical education of Mangalore University Dr Kishor Kumar C K, campus director Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, principal of St Philomena PU College Fr Vijay Lobo, assistant youth empowerment and sports officer of Puttur Mamachan M, former weightlifter and alumnus Krishnappa Gowda and former athlete and alumnus Sajjan Kumar K will participate as the guests of honor.

 

The correspondent Fr Alfred J Pinto will preside the programme.

 

The valedictory function will be held on Thursday, September 26 at 3pm.

 

The president of Puttur taluk panchayat Radhakrishna Borkar will distribute the prizes.

 

The executive director of S G Corporates Puttur Ranjitha Shankar will be the chief guest.

 

The campus director Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, principal Fr Vijay Lobo, president of Mangalore University and College Physical Education Directors Association James Oliver, former captain of Mangalore University Football Team and alumnus Divyadarshan Y M and the former Captain of Mangalore University Football Team and alumnus Mr Premnath H K will participate as the guests of honor.

 

Mangalore Zone tournament will be held from September 23 to September 25h and inter zone tournament will be held on September 26. In Mangalore Zone 40 teams and in inter zone tournament 4 teams will participate in this prestigious championship.

 

The physical education directors of the College Prakash D’Souza and Rajesh Moolya will coordinate the tournament.
