Udupi: “Teachers Should Provide Value based Education to Students”- Bishop Gerald Lobo

Udupi, 04 Sep: Speaking on the occasion of the Teachers’ Day celebration organized by the Catholic Education Society of Udupi (CESU) at St Xavier’s English medium High School, Udyavara on Wednesday, 04 September 2019, Bishop of Udupi Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo opined that along with giving education to the students in developing their mental faculties, teachers also have a great responsibility of providing them value based education. Everyone needs education to grow as good citizen. The Bishop further said that in the progress of a nation teachers play an important role. By recognizing the qualities and talents of students and by nurturing these teachers can enrich their profession.

 

Bhoje Gouda, Member of the Legislative Council from North-west Teachers’ Constituency who was the chief guest of the Teachers’ Day celebration in his message lauded the role of Christian Institutions in field of education. He further said that every teacher has the responsibility of providing education with a view to create a healthy society and promoting equality. He made an appeal to the teachers to  protect and promote the dignity of their profession.

 

 

Those teachers and non-teaching staff  of the educational institutions under CESU who had retired last year were honoured by the Bishop. All those institutions which had secured 100 percent results and meritorious students were felicitated on this occasion. Condolence was offered to those teachers from CESU governed institutions who had passed away last year.

 

The Teachers’ Day celebration was attended by Subramanya Joshi-Deputy Director of PUC Education, Mrs. Manjula-Udupi Block Education Officer, Rev. Dr. Lawrence D’Souza-former Secretary of CESU and presently the Rector of the Milagres Cathedral and Rev. Fr. Stany Lobo-Correspondent of St. Francis Xavier Educational Institutions.

 

Fr. Vincent Crasta, Secretary of CESU welcomed the guests, Naveen Correa, lecturer from St. Lawrence PU College, Moodubelle proposed the vote of thanks and Sr. Precilla and Anil Kumar compeered the programme.
