Mangaluru: ICYM and YCS units of Cordel observe Teachers Day and visit to home for the aged

Mangaluru, 03 Sep: ICYM Cordel unit organised Teachers Day Celebration on Sunday 1st September 2019. The teachers of the Cordel Parish joined the Eucharistic celebration concelebrated by Rev.Fr Victor Machado-Parish Preist of Cordel parish and Rev Fr Lawrence Cutinha Assistant Parish Priest. The liturgy was well organised and conducted by the teachers.

 

After the Eucharistic celebration there was a program to felicitate the teachers for their relentless service for the society at Frad Saib Hall. Around 160 teachers participated in the programme. Rev Fr Victor Machado, Fr Lawrence Cutinha, Fr Ashwin Cardoza-Resident Priest, Loy Noronha and Sathurnine Monteiro-Vice President and Secretary of Parish Pastrol Committee were the dignitaries for the program.

 

The program began with the prayer song led by ICYM members. Ms Sweedal Rasquina, spoke about the origin of Teachers’ day and explained the significance of teachers in our daily life. Mrs Luviza D’Souza spoke on behalf of all the teachers and exclaimed her heartfelt gratitude towards Cordel parishioners for conducting such program of recognition and felicitationof teachers.

 

Rev Fr Victor Machado in his presidential address the gathering at the occasion and said: "All people have goodness in them. It’s the right type of teachers who carve out the best out of a student". He congratulated the youth for planning a wonderful program for the teachers.

 

After the inaugural programme, momentos were distributed to all the teachers. The ICYM youth entertained the gathering with variety of dance and songs. Vernon Crasta conducted lucky games for teachers and thanked all the gathering. Meenal Rego compeered the program.

 

 

The YCS Unit of Holy Cross church, Cordel visited the home for the aged institute run by the Little Sisters of the Poor soon after participating in the Holy Eucharistic celebration at 7 am concelebrated by Rev.Fr Victor Machado, Vicar of Cordel parish and Rev Fr Lawrence Cutinha, Assistant Parish Priest.

 

The program began with the YCS youths along with the inmates of the home by offering flowers to Mother Mary. The YCS youths entertained them with action songs. Sr. Rekha Lobo animator of the YCS Unit delivered message inviting the inmates to be happy and contended in life. The youths spent time with the inmates by listening and being with them and serving a sumptuous breakfast. They were enriched to learn the experience of aged and learnt to respect the elders in the family. They appreciated the dedicated service of the sisters of the poor in taking care of the aged selflessly.

 

 

The YCS youth thanked the Parish Priest Rev, Fr Victor Machado for all the support and encouragement and assistant Parish Priest Rev Fr. Lawrence Cutinha and Rev Fr. Ashwin Cardoza, Resident priest for guiding and being present for the program. Around 40 YCS youths participated in the program.
