Public Celebration of Shri Ganesh Festival of Belle-Kattingeri Village Enters Fortieth Year

Udupi/M’Belle, 02 Sep: The public celebration of Shri Ganesh Festival of Belle-Kattingeri village marks the fortieth year and the festivities started with religious rituals followed by the grand installation of the Shri Ganesh idol at elegantly decorated stage in the Geetha Mandir, near Village Panchayat office on Monday, 2 September 2019 at 11.30 am.
Earlier, the majestic idol of Shri Ganesh was brought to the Geetha Mandir by the office bearers and volunteers of the Sarvajanik Shri Ganeshotsava Samithi at 10.15 am.
Unlike the previous years, this year the festivities will go on for five days from 2 September to 6 September. A number of religio-socio-cultural activities will be conducted during these five days.
Competitions in various fields such as drawing of Shri Ganesh pictures, fancy dress, devotional songs etc. will be conducted for local people, children and adults on 2 September; Yakshagana Gombeyaata will be presented on 3 September, ‘Shri Krishna Parijata’ yakshagana play as wellas ‘Ammer Nerper’, Tulu drama will be presented on 4 September; another Tulu play, “Yereg Yer” will be staged on 5 September. Besides these cultural activities there will be public community meals (Annasantarpane) on 3 and 5 September. Along with routine poojas there will be religious discourses.
The grand immersion procession will start on Friday, 6 September 2019 at 5 pm.
