Missing Coffee Day Founder Siddharth’s body found on the river bank at Hoige Bazar

Mangaluru, 31 Jul: Founder of Cafe Coffee Day - VG Siddhartha, who went missing from Mangaluru on Monday night. Siddhartha’s driver had informed his family about his missing. “I’ve been driving with Siddaratha for last 3 years. I went to his Bangaluru residence at 8 am and then to Vittal Mallya’s office and came back home at 11 am. At 12: 30 pm he asked me to drive towards Sakleshpur. I was driving an Innova. He then asked me to head towards Mangaluru. When I was entering the main Mangaluru circle, he asked me to take a left to go to a site. We reached Kerala highway and drove for 3-4 kms. He asked me to stop at a bridge and asked me to be at the end of the bridge till he returns. I then got down from the car. He later asked me to sit inside the car and drive to the other side of the bridge. At 8:00 pm I called him but his phone as off. I then called his son and he said he will call him too. I later filed a complaint.”

 

Multiple teams of police forces, along with the Coast Guard and the National Disaster Response Force, had been searching for Mr Siddhartha. Police had also used dog squads and inflatable boats and roped in local fishermen to search the river. They were searching for his body the whole day and night but in vain.

 

 

Siddhartha is the elder son-in-law of senior BJP leader, S M Krishna, who was External Affairs Minister in the UPA-2 government (2009-12) and state Chief Minister (1999-2004) when in the Congress.

 

The body of Siddhartha, was found on the river bank at Bolar, Hoige Bazar in the early morning on Wednesday, July 31.

 

The body was found by fishermen who were going for fishing at Bolar, Hoige Bazar area. They had informed the police at about 6.30 am.

 

 

A massive search operation involving multiple agencies was on since Monday evening, when Mr Siddhartha went missing."We found the body early morning today. It needs to be identified, we have already informed the family members. The police have identified and confirmed that it was Siddhartha’s body. We will continue further investigation," Mangaluru Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil said.

 

Body was taken to Wenlock Hospital for post-mortem. Funeral will be held in Chikkamagaluru on July 31 evening.
