Mumbai: Lawrence Coelho bags Konkani Bhasha Mandal Lifetime Achievement Award

Mumbai, 17 Jul: Konkani Bhasha Mandal Maharashtra identifies achievers who have ceaselessly served for Konkani language and culture and felicitate them. It will be conferring life time achievement award 2019 on ‘Divo’ Konkani weekly editor Lawrence Coelho this time, states the press release dated July 16.

 

 

Lawrence Coelho has been in journalism in Mumbai for the last four decades and has published hundreds of works. He has been editing and publishing ‘Divo’ Konkani weekly newspaper and ‘Citizen’ weekly in Mumbai since the last twenty five years. His wife Suzana L Coelho too works as a publisher. Both of them are life time members of Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangha Maharashtra and directors of Christian Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

 

“Konkani Bhasha Mandal will be celebrating Konkani day 2019 at Saraswati Mandira School Auditorium, Senapathi Bapat Marg, Mahim West on Saturday August 17 at 6.30 pm. Lawrence Coelho will be honoured with shawl, flower bouquet, citation and Rs 10,000 during the programme,” informed Konkani Bhasha Mandal president John D’ Silva.

 

“Besides dances and music, a Konkani drama titled ‘Sairik’ will be staged as part of the cultural programme. Scholarships will be distributed to member’s children,” stated honorary secretary Lawrence D’ Souza Kamani in the press release.
