Gas tanker overturns at Udyavar

Udupi, 03 Jul: A fully loaded gas bullet tanker has overturned on the National Highway 66 at Udyavar Balaipade during the wee hours of July 3, Wednesday.

 

LPG tanker carrying LPG towards Belagavi from Mangaluru went out of the control of its driver when the tanker was being turned towards Udyavar for buying diesel and tumbled by the roadside.

 

 

It has been gathered that the tanker had stopped at Udyavar petrol bunk to fill diesel and had proceeded little further when the driver was reminded of his ATM card which he had left in the bunk. He then decided to take a U-turn at Balaipade when the mishap occurred.

 

Luckily there was no gas leakage. Fire tender vehicles and police personnel are at the spot. The tanker driver has escaped unhurt.

 

Traffic on the National Highway was suspended for some time following the mishap.
