Mangaluru: Udupi youth group visits Kalaangann on study tour of Konkani culture

Mangaluru, 10 Jun: Udupi diocesan Youth Commission organized a study tour of 25 youth members of ICYM and YCS to Kalaangann, Shaktinagar, here on Sunday, June 9 afternoon, to learn about bygone glory of Konkani culture.

 

Mandd Sobhann PRO Victor Mathias briefed the youth about Konkani, its distinct traditions and culture and yeomen service of Mandd Sobhann in this regard, besides explaining the traditional life of Konkans as depicted from wall and cement sculptures at the precincts, artifacts that are used by them displayed in the museum.

 

 

Mandd Sobhann Gurkar Eric Ozario and group sang folk songs and explained its meaning.

 

The diocesan Commission director Fr Edwin D’Souza and animator Lydwin Aranha, YCS national president Darryl D’Sa were present.

 

Udupi youth Commission organized camp titled ‘Zalak’  to unravel the rich culture of Konkani at St Joseph’s parish, Belman, in Karkala as part of Youth Year from June 9 to June 12.
