Udupi: Sponsorship Day held for Eighth Std. Students of St. Lawrence High School, Moodubelle

Udupi/M’Belle, 08 Jun: In order to promote education among Kannada medium high school students, sponsorship day was observed for the newly admitted eighth standard students of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School, Moodubelle on Saturday, 8 June 2019 at 11 am.

 

The programme commenced with welcome dance by the students. The programme was presided over by Fr. Jitesh Castelino, newly appointed Assistant Parish Priest of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle. Valerian Lobo was the chief guest. Other dignitaries on the dais included: Mrs. Ranjani Hegde-President of Belle Grama Panchayat, Devaraya Shanbhagh-Principal of St. Lawrence PU College, Maxim D’Sa-President of Old Students Assocaition and Mrs. Sunitha Kamath-Headmistress of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School.

 

In her introductory cum welcome address, Mrs. Sunitha Kamath briefly narrated the background of the sponsorship of the students who have been admitted to eighth standard. She said that everything from school uniforms to books, school calendar, Identity Cards to mid-day meals have been sponsored by philanthropists and donors who were incited to the programme. Mrs. Sunitha Kamath also expressed her happiness towards the excellent result of tenth standard students in the SSLC examination that was held in the month of March 2019. Out of 39 students, 38 had cleared the examination providing 97.5 percent result to the school. She appreciated the efforts of all the teachers especially that of John Castelino, Valerian Crasta and Mathematics teacher Ms. Jezel D’Souza.

 

 

The dignitaries on the dais as well as the sponsors among the audience distributed uniforms, notebooks and school calendar to 30 students who had taken admission this year to eighth standard.

 

Anvith, the eighth standard student thanked the school as well as the donors for their sponsorship and assured that all the students would live up to their expectations.

 

Maxim D’Sa, Mrs. Ranjani Hegde and Valerian Lobo complimented the students and wished them well in their studies and appealed them to make good use of the facilities provided by the school and be grateful to the sponsors for their sacrifice by studying well and achieving good marks in the examinations.

 

Ms. Jezel D’Souza who had served the school last year as Mathematics teacher was honoured by Fr. Jitesh Castelino. He also welcomed the new Matehmatics teacher Stany menezes by offering him flowers.

 

In his presidential message, Fr. Jitesh Castelino said that students should attempt to follow the stars so that they can at least reach the peak of the mountain of success. He also said that material wealth can be stolen, but the wealth of knowledge cannot be stolen by anyone. He stressed on the need for the students to have inspiration so that they can be agents of transformation in the society.

 

Sudhir Naik proposed the vote of thanks and John Castelino compeered the programme.
