Mangaluru: Festive atmosphere created at state-run school in Kodical on school reopening

Mangaluru, 30 May: ZP vice president Kasturi Panja welcomed the new students enrolled for classes after summer holidays during school reopening at state-run Higher Primary School, Kodical, here on Wednesday, May 29.
Dakshina Kannada ZP in collaboration with public instructions department organized the school reopening district level programme at Kodical Higher Primary School, here, under the slogan ‘My walk to school, a chance to return school.’
Kasturi recalled her school days and said, ‘The entire education sphere has seen rapid changes since the private English medium schools began functioning in district. Meanwhile, the students who studied in state-run schools are better placed in life because they are bestowed with practical sense.’
She hoped the students excel in studies with the support of their parents and teachers.
In her presidential address, ZP president Meenakshi Shantigodu commended state-run school offering quality education at par with private English medium schools.
BEO north zone Manjula explained the objectives of the programme.
Public instructions department deputy director Shivaramayya said that the education department organized school reopening with the slogan ‘My walk to school, a chance to return school’ not to deprive any child from education.
The district deputy project co-ordination officer Lokesh welcomed the gathering. CDPO Shyamala, Kasturi of Velarod organization, SDMC president Veena Shetty, Mahabala Chowta were present.
Manjula compered the programme.
Notebooks and roses were presented to 8 students in a symbolic gesture to welcome them to school.
The school was traditionally decorated to create festive atmosphere.
