Bantwal: Two persons drown in Netravati River; Groom’s family in shock

Bantwal, 28 May: Two persons who have gone for a swim were drowned in Netravati River at nearby the ferry that lies in Borimar gram panchayat, near here on Saturday, May 25 evening.
The deceased has been identified as Ajit Kumar (40) and Manish (14), both natives of Kumbla in Kerala. The locals rescued Yakshit who is recovering in a hospital.
Ajit Kumar had come along with 7 children who are part of a folk artiste troupe from Kumbla, in order to attend the wedding ceremony of his relative Santosh Kumar, son of Sanjeev Bogi, native of Borimar, near here. Ajit along with other children have gone to swim in the river. Meanwhile, they were in the water, Ajit saw Manish and Yakshit were about to drown, he rushed to rescue them, while in the process he himself was taken away by the undercurrent along with Manish. The locals rescued Yakshit.
The wedding of Santosh was scheduled to be held on Sunday, May 26 at Someshwar, near Mangaluru. However, its owing to fate, the family is now in utter distress and mourning.
Panemangaluru revenue inspector Rama Katipalla, village accountant Janardhan, Pradeep, TP office staff Sadashiva Kaikamba visited the grieving family.
Bantwal rural police SI Prasanna and personnel inspected the location and registered FIR in this regard.
