Mangaluru: Many volunteers to pickup litter on Netravati River at Dharmasthala

Mangaluru, 25 May: The staffs of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, auto rickshaw drivers and owners, locals, KSRTC staff and others from social welfare and voluntary organizations have partaken in cleanliness in Netravati River and bathing point at Dharmasthala, here on Friday, May 24 from 6.30am to 9.00am.
The volunteers collected plastic, clothes etc, littered by tourists in Netravati River.
Addressing the media persons, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade said, ‘The general awareness is essential to maintain cleanliness as Swacch Bharat Abhiyan initiated by PM Modi is quite successful in the country that needs to be emulated by every household family.’
The devotees arriving from other states lack sense of littering, although it has changed a little. Meanwhile, concerted efforts can change things for better, added Heggade.
He also lauded the efforts of volunteers in cleanliness drive.
