Bantwal: Omzoor parish ICYM unit celebrates Ruby Jubilee with variety events

Bantwal, 20 May: Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) unit of Holy Family parish Omzoor, near here celebrated its Ruby Jubilee Year on Sunday, May 19.
The celebration began with Thanksgiving Mass at the church at 8:00am. Bishop Emeritus, Mangaluru diocese and the co-celebrants were Fr Alwyn D’Cunha - parish priest, Fr Ronald Prakash D’Souza - director, ICYM Mangaluru diocese, Fr Norbert Lobo and Fr Gerald Lobo.
The liturgy and the choir were led by the ICYM members.
After the Mass, Bishop Emeritus was felicitated for his service rendered towards the diocese. The morning celebration was concluded by cutting the Ruby Jubilee cake with an ICYM Song.
The celebration continued at Holy Family parish ground at 6.00pm with an invocation where the ICYM members performed a prayer dance.
Josna D’Souza - president, ICYM Omzoor unit welcomed the gathering. ICYM members came together for an ICYM Theme Song.
A birds-eye view of past years was presented and thereafter the members performed various cultural programme.
Monsignor Maxim L Noronha - vicar general, diocese of Mangaluru presided the programme.
Fr Ronald Prakash D’Souza - director, ICYM Mangaluru diocese was the chief guest.
Fr Ashwin Cardoza - assistant director, ICYM Mangaluru diocese along with the office bearers of ICYM Mangaluru diocese were present.
Former presidents of ICYM Mangaluru diocese from Omzoor James Lewis and Elroy Saldanha were felicitated.
Monsignor Maxim L Noronha, Fr Ronald Prakash D’Souza and Fr Alwyn D’Cunha expressed their joy over the programme.
Jonisha Lobo - secretary, ICYM Omzoor unit proposed the vote of thanks.
The first half of the programme was compered by Rohan Saldanha and Violet Fernandes. In the second half, ‘Kalakul’ lone Konkani theater repertory comedy play, promoted by Mangaluru-based Mandd Sobhann presented hilarious Konkani play ‘Paying Guest’ by playwright and directed by Arun Raj Rodrigues, Valencia.
