Udupi: St. Mary’s Shirva holds ZEST 2019 at Saud Sabha Bhavan

Udupi, 01 Apr: Post Graduate Department of Commerce of St. Mary’s College, Shirva organised "Zest - 2019" Stimulating Potentiality on Friday 29th March 2019.

 

The Inaugural function was held at Saud Sabha Bhavan, Shirva at 9:45 a.m. attended by honourable dignitaries Very Rev. Fr. Denis A. D’sa (Correspondent, St. Mary’s and Don Bosco Educational Institutions), Chief guest Mr. Mithun Bhat Kakunje (Director of Kakunje group of companies), Prof. Rajan V.N. (Principal, St. Mary’s College, Shirva), Asst. Prof. Sharmila (Fest Co-ordinator), Asst. Prof. Jagadeesh Acharya (Co-ordinator - Post Graduate Department of Commerce) and Miss Raksha (Student Co-ordinator). The inaugural function was compered by Miss Lavita Moras. After inviting the guests onto the dias, a prayer song was lead by the choir team. Miss Raksha welcomed the gathering and the guests on the dias were felicitated with floral bouquets. Asst. Prof. Sharmila delivered the opening remarks which introduced the details of the fest to the participants and audience. The Principal Prof. Rajan V.N. in his address presented before the august gathering the achievements of the college and felicitated the organising committee. All the dignitaries on the dias joined the traditional lamp lighting ceremony wherein Mr. Mithun Bhat K. inaugurated the Fest "Zest - 2019" Stimulating Potentiality. The Chief Guest Mr. Bhat in his inaugural address said that in order to reach greater heights one must grab all the opportunities. During the presidential remarks, Fr. Denis D’sa elaborated the meaning of the word "Zest" and even exclaimed that Zest is an opportunity for each one of us to stimulate our potentiality. Miss Anusha proposed the vote of thanks.

 

 

After the inaugural function, various competitions were held simultaneously like Marketing, Fin Win, B-Quiz, HR and Best Manager which were judged by the well-versed personalities in the field namely Prof. Uday Shetty, Prof. Lokeshnath B., Asst. Prof. A. Melwyn Castelino, Retd. Prof. Ronald J. Moras, Asst. Prof. Jagadeesh Acharya and Prof. Sandhya. In order to get a glow on the fest a facebook contest was also organised which was conducted by Miss Jeenal Sherin Saldanha wherein the participants had to upload their group pictures on Facebook with the stage as their background. The team which would get the highest likes was eligible for felicitation.

 

After the competitions, the prize distribution ceremony was conducted in the valedictory function which was compered by Miss Joyce Cutinho. Mr. Pawan Rao welcomed the gathering. The guest of honour was Mr. Jagdeesh (An Audit Officer). He during his address asked the students to have keen interest towards Government sector employment. The President of this valedictory function was the Principal of the college Prof. Rajan V.N. who congratulated the participants and the M.Com department for organising such an amazing fest named "Zest - 2019" and making it a successful one. The M.com Co-ordinator Asst. Prof. Jagadeesh Acharya read out the names of winners according to their teams.

Asst. Prof. Sharmila (Fest Co-ordinator) thanked all the responsible personalities for their selfless contribution, dedication, determination, participation and support. The valedictary function lasted till 4:30 p.m.
