Yakshagana in Marathi exemplifies its popularity across greater Mumbai

Mumbai, 27 Mar: The number of Yakshagana shows that are staged across greater Mumbai, perhaps are not staged in homeland Karnataka. Earlier, Yakshagana in Kannada, Tulu and Konkani used to be staged, while as a latest development Yakshagana in Marathi also staged owing to its mass appeal. Pandarapur Mahima – Yakshagana play depicting the mythological significance of renowned Pandarapur temple is being staged by the artistes of Janapriya Yakshagana troupe that was launched by Swami Sudhindra of Kashi mutt, said Mohandas Mallya, managing trustee of Vittal Rukmayee temple, Dahisar, here.
Mallya was speaking at the stage programme organized jointly by GSB Sabha Mulund and Maharashtra Seva Sangh at their Mulund auditorium, here on Saturday, March 23.
Maharashtra Seva Sangh president Chandrashekar Waje was the chief guest said that Yakshagana is binding Maharashtra and Karnataka for common good.
Mulund GSB Sabha president Surendra Baliga, Kamat Caterers proprietor Satish Kamat, Maharashtra Seva Sangh secretary Vinod Soudagar, GSB Sabha Sion member Sacchidanand Padiyar and others were present at the dais.
Yogesh Dange introduced the dignitaries. Vittal Prabhu Kukkehalli compered the programme.
