PTA & Alumni Day Celebrations held at St Philomena College

Puttur, 24 Jan: On the occasion of Diamond Jubilee Finale of St Philomena College, PTA and Alumni Day Celebrations were held at College Quadrangle, here on January 22, 2019 in College Quadrangle.
The Judge of High Court of Karnataka Justice Mohammed Nawaz participated as the chief guest. He said, ‘Education is not just the process of acquiring knowledge and skills. It is something more than this. It is a process of achieving personality development of the students in order to choose better career opportunities.’
The DGM of Vijaya Bank, Regional Office, Hubli Baptist Lobo, Chartered Accountant of M. Jagannath Kamath & Co, Kodialbail, Mangaluru CA Jagannath M Kamath and industrialist at Mysuru Subramanya Rai participated as the guests of honor.
The former vicar general of Mangaluru diocese Monsignor Denis Moras Prabhu delivered the presidential address.
The campus director Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro was honored for receiving VGST award in the area of research publications. The principal Prof Leo Noronha was felicitated for having nominated to the Syndicate of Mangalore University.
On this occasion, PhD awardee faculties, rank winners in the University Examinations and sports achievers were felicitated.
The principal Prof Leo Noronha presented the condolence message to pay homage to Swami Shivakumar of Siddaganga Mutt, who passed away on January 21, 2019.
The correspondent of the College Fr Alfred J Pinto expressed the best wishes.
The principal of PU College Fr Vijay Lobo, president of PTA of PU section Durgaprasad Rai and secretary Prashanth Bhat graced the occasion.
Prahanth Rai and team presented the prayer song. The president of Alumni Association Jayaraj Bhandary welcomed the gathering. The secretary of Alumni Association Dr K Chandrashekar and the secretary of PTA Edwin S D’Souza presented the annual reports. The president of PTA Antony Olivera proposed the vote of thanks. In the cultural programme, parents and former students of the college have displayed varieties of dances, songs and skits.
