Beltangady: ICYM Venur Unit celebrates Golden Jubilee Year

• A journey of thousand miles reached the destination of 50 years and many more to come

Beltangady, 22 Jan: Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) unit of Christ the King parish, Venur, near here celebrated their Golden Jubilee on Sunday, January 20.

 

The celebration began with a flag hoisting ceremony at the parish grounds on Sunday at 10.00am. The flag of ICYM and Golden Jubilee logo was hoisted by Nagaraj S E - sub inspector of Venur police station.

 

Addressing the gathering, Nagaraj said, ‘Youth are the milestones to build a better country. Their ideas, creative minds and developing technology are going to give a wonderful shape to the world in future.’

 

 

Thereafter, solar lamp was inaugurated nearby Navachethan School to commemorate Golden Jubilee Celebration of ICYM Venur. The solar street lamp was inaugurated by the parish priest Fr Stany Rodrigues.

 

The grand evening started with a procession from Venur town to the Church at 3.30pm.

 

After the procession, Holy Eucharistic Celebration was held in the presence of Dr Peter Paul Saldanha - Bishop of Mangaluru diocese.

 

The official ceremony of Golden Jubilee Celebration started at 6.00pm.

 

Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha inaugurated the ceremony.

 

Beltangady MLA Harish Punja, Fr Ronald Prakash D’Souza - director, ICYM Mangaluru diocese were the chief guests of the ceremony.

 

Bishop released a souvenir in the memory of Golden Jubilee of ICYM Venur unit and addressed the gathering with the words of appreciation towards the ICYM Youths of Venur unit.

 

Fr Basil Vas - director, ICYM Beltangady deanery,  Fr Anthony Lewis - parish priest, St Francis Xavier parish, Ferar, Fr Rohan Lobo - secretary, Mangaluru diocese, Fr Jaison Monis - parish priest, Holy Cross parish, Manjotti, Fr Benjamin, Muhammad Farooq - minority officer, Beltangady taluk, Jaison Leroy Pereira - president, ICYM Mangaluru diocese, Vivian S Fernandes - president, ICYM Beltangady deanery were the guests of honor.

 

ICYM Venur unit felicitated all the former presidents, coordinators, directors and achievers who served ICYM Venur unit in the past 50 years.

 

Fr Stany Rodrigues felicitated Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha.

 

A documentary was presented before the audience cherishing the journey and achievements of the unit throughout these years.

 

 

After the formal programme, cultural events were presented by ICYM members and the programme was concluded with a Tulu play, Telikeda Barsa by Tenali Team, Karkala through their mesmerizing acting skills.

 

Arun Crasta - Venur gram panchayat vice president and president, Golden Jubilee Committee, Ronald Dsouza - vice president, Steven D’Cuhna - secretary, Venur parish council, Anup Pais - secretary, Golden Jubilee Committee, Denis Sequeira - treasurer, Golden Jubilee Committee, Sr Wilma D’Sa and Arun D’Souza - animators, Delson D’Souza - president and Reshma Fernandes - secretary, ICYM Venur unit were present.

 

Arun Crasta welcomed the gathering. Anup Pais proposed vote of thanks. Wilson D’Souza, Ronson Tellis and Ninet Moras hosted the event. It was a fun-filled day to all the parishioners of Venur and a day to remember.
