Rosario Cathedral Holds ‘Church Architecture Exhibition’

Mangaluru, 21 Jan: Rosario Cathedral and the students of Srinivas School of Architecture, Valachil, near here jointly organized Church Architecture Exhibition to create an awareness of the church architecture at Rosario Cultural Hall, here, on Saturday, January 20. The exhibition will remain open to the public till Monday, January 21 from 9:30am to 5:00pm.

 

Srinivas School of Architecture, Mangaluru had won Best Documented Project national award for their documented project titled ‘Documentation of Rosario Cathedral, Mangaluru’ at Students award for excellence in the documentation of Architectural Heritage in India instituted by Council of Architecture (COA), New Delhi recently.

 

 

Fr Dr Ronald Serrao, the Dean and Professor of Liturgy of St Joseph Seminary, here inaugurated the exhibition and spoke on the importance of the architecture of the Church and explained various types of architecture, and how it has influenced the liturgy and the way of life of the people in the Catholic Church. He said that we need to give importance to the church architecture when we build new Church buildings. He also said that this is one of the Unique and first exhibition on Church architecture exhibition arranged by the members of the Rosario Cathedral in the diocese of Mangalore. Along with the architectural drawings and audiovisuals on the Church architecture were arranged at the venue. The program attracted a large number of people from the city.

 

Fr Flavian Lobo, the assistant parish priest, Fr Rocky Fernandez, the principal of Rosario Management College, Fr Victor D’Souza, the principal of Rosario PU College, Fr Paul D Souza from Sullia, Fr Anil Fernandes, the Rector of Minor Seminary, C J Simon, the vice president of the Rosario parish council and many other dignitaries where present.

 

Rosario Cathedral rector Fr J B Crasta welcomed the gathering. Carol D’ Souza, the animator and associate Professor of Srinivas School of Architecture delivered the vote of thanks.  Elizabeth Roche, the secretary of parish council compered the programme.

 

A large number of people viewed the exhibition.
