Beltangady: Madantyar parish ICYM unit organizes Kabaddi & Lagori Tourney

Beltangady, 11 Jan: ICYM unit of Sacred Heart parish, Madantyar, here organized inter ward Kabaddi and Lagori tournament at Sacred Heart PU College grounds on Sunday, January 6.

 

Fr Basil Vas - parish priest, Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Madantyar presided the programme that began at 10.30am.

 

Fr Lancy Lewis – superior, Asha Deepa, Fr Alwyn D’Souza and Fr Alwyn D’Souza SJ - assistant parish priests of Madantyar, Fr Jerome D’Souza – principal, SHPU College, Leo Rodrigues – secretary, Madantyar parish council, Vivian S Fernandes – president, ICYM Beltangady deanary, Ronson Veigas – president and Avil D’Souza - sports secretary, ICYM Madantyar unit were  present on the dais.

 

 

The programme was inaugurated by the dignitaries.

 

Ronson Veigas welcomed the gathering. Fr Basil Vas addressed the gathering with his presidential speech and wished best of luck to all. Avil D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks and Lavita Fernandes – secretary, ICYM Madantyar unit compered the inaugural programme.

 

Events like Lagori for women and Kabaddi day/night match for men were organized successfully. Eighteen teams among 22 Wards participated in the tournament. Mother Theresa ward won the Lagori match and Our Lady of Dolors ward won the Kabaddi match. Winners were awarded with cash prize and trophies. All the ward gurkars and ward representatives extended their support to this event.
