Mangaluru: City gears up for River Festival to tap tourism potentials

Mangaluru, 10 Jan: The laying of jetty near Kuloor bridge, Bangra Kuloor and Sultan Battery along Palguni River for hosting River Festival that is being organized by district administration and tourism department is nearly completed.
The officials of both tourism and public works department have personally overseen the work along with committee members.
The boats are being sourced to ferry tourists to Kuloor/Bangra Kuloor and flea market. The students Nitte education institutions are drawing colorful paintings at the venue.
The boating facility has been already to take the tourists from Sultan Battery to Kuloor and Bangra Kuloor. Food stalls are being set up on state-owned 23 acres plot along with film festival to screen movies on the significance of rivers in the palm grove, informed tourism assistant director Uday Shetty.
All the measures are being taken to boost tourism, while there are plans to introduce house boat, kayaking and hinterland tourism.
