Beltangady: Parishioners of Madantyar parish celebrate New Year Eve with Thanksgiving

Beltangady, 05 Jan: The entire campus of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Madantyar, erupted in joyous celebration welcoming the New Year and celebrating the solemnity of Holy Mary Mother of God with much spirit and gusto.

 

On the eve of the New Year, people gathered in a large number to thank God for all the blessings which they had received in the previous year.

 

The evening liturgy began with the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 7.00pm to 8.00pm conducted by Fr Basil Vas - parish priest, Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Madanthyar which helped the people to recall several events that took place in the parish, Institutions and lives of the people and thanked God for the same.

 

 

The vigil solemnity of Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Fr Alwyn Richard D’Souza - assistant parish priest, Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Madantyar along with seven priests. Fr Alwyn D’Souza SJ delivered the homily.

 

After the Eucharistic Celebration, prizes were distributed to the winners of crib, star, quiz, poem, greeting card competitions.

 

 ‘Legion of Mary’ association took care of the entire liturgy. Thereafter, cake and coffee was served to all.

 

A large number of faithful participated in the New Year vigil service and wished each other on this special dual occasion.
