Mumbai: Sustenance of Konkani among new generation of Konkans essential – R P Naik

Mumbai, 11 Dec: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy in collaboration with St Aloysius College Konkani Study Center, organized certificate course in vovya-verse that is the folk songs sung during rose in Konkani wedding ceremonies.
The valedictory of the same was held at Aruppe block auditorium of St Aloysius College, here, on Saturday, December 8 evening.
In his presidential address, The Academy president R P Naik aid that in order to sustain Konkani culture among the new generation of Konkans, the Academy has launched its first innovative programme beginning from St Aloysius College. He thanked the College authorities for their yeomen service in this regard.
The litterateur Dr Shivaram Kamat, St Aloysius College principal Fr Praveen Martis, Radio Sarang director Fr Dr Melvyn Pinto were the chief guests distributed the certificates.
Vanessa D’Souza and group rendered the prayers. Academy member Laxman Prabhu welcomed the gathering. The convener Flora Castelino delivered the preliminary address. Rupal D’Souza compered the programme. Noila Mascarenhas proposed vote of thanks.
