Udupi/M’Belle: Annual Sports Meet of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions Inaugurated

Udupi/M’Belle, 28 Nov: The three days long annual sports meet of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions was inaugurated at St. Lawrence PU College Ground on Wednesday, 28 November 2018 at 9.45 am.

 

The inaugural programme was presided over by Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Correspondent of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions. Sandeep Acharya, an old student of the institution who is presently Cash Finax International Trader was the chief guest.

 

Prior to the inaugural programme, Fr. Clement Mascarenhas along with the chief guest Sandeep Acharya and Principal Naveen Correa reviewed the march past of the students from four institutions and received salute.

 

Following the prayer by the students of St. Lawrence English Medium High School. Principal of St. Lawrence P.U. College, Naveen Correa welcomed the guests.

 

Chief Guest Sandeep Acharya formally inaugurated the annual sports meet by hoisting the flag of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions.

 

Vincent Fernandes, Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council ignited the sports flag from the flame that was brought to the ground by district level sports boys and girls led by Supritha.

 

Sandeep Acharya, the chief guest formally made announcement about the inauguration of the Annual sports meet.

 

On the behalf of the athletes of all the institutions, Niveditha Rebello took the oath of sports ethics.

 

In his message, Sandeep Acharya said that he has been proud of St. Lawrence educational Institutions as he was the student of these institutions right from primary education till graduation, a period of 15 years. He said that he had participated in annual sports meet and had won many prizes. He wished well to all the athletes who would take part in various competitions.

 

 

In his presidential address, Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, said that these three days are very important for the students as they would participate in and enjoy the sports meet for three days. He further said that sports is one such activity that teaches that all are one and children of the same God. He made an appeal to the students to participate in large numbers in various sporting activities and try their best to win prizes.

Sr, Irene Veigas-Headmistress of the Church Aided Higher Primary School proposed the vote of thanks.

 

Sr. Irene Veigas-Headmistress of Church Aided Higher Primary School, Mrs. Sunitha Kamath-Headmistress of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School, Mrs. Maria Barboza-Headmistress of St. lawrence English Medium High School, Naveen Correa-Principal of St. Lawrence PU College and their staff members were present.

 

Parents-Teachers Association Presidents of the institutions were present. These included: Ivan D’Souza (St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School), Mrs. Rovita Fernandes (St. Lawrence English Medium High School) and Gerald Fernandes (St. Lawrence PU College).

 

Church Aided Higher Primary School and St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School athletes have their competitions on Wednesday, 28 November; St. Lawrence English Medium High School students will have their sports on Thursday, 29 November and St. Lawrence PU College students will have their sports day on Friday, 30 November followed by valedictory and prize distribution function.
