Melbourne: Konkani hit movie ‘Noshibacho Khell’ to premiere on November 24

Melbourne, 18 Oct: ‘Noshibacho Khell’, the Konkani super-hit movie that was conceived in early November 2015 with muhurat in Udupi, released on August 12 in Mangaluru and still making waves, is now all set to enter another continent. The film is scheduled to be screened thousands of miles farthermost east in Melbourne, Australia on November 24 in the renowned Sir John’s Cinema, Monash University Campus on Wellington Road, in the suburb of Clayton.

 

Jawahar (Joe) Sequeira, the past president and an active member of Melbourne Konkan Community (MKC), the premiere Association of Melbourne Konkans, is organising this show with the coordination of Fr Prakash Cutinha, parish priest of Bell Park Parish in Geelong, along with SRI Entertainment. Melbourne Konkan Community is the proud supporter of this event.

 

The entire proceeds of the movie will be donated to Ave Maria Palliative Care, a unit of Centre for Development, Studies and Education (Regd) in Mangala Nagara, Vamanjoor on the outskirts of Mangaluru. Ave Maria Palliative Care has a mission of providing compassionate, holistic care to patients suffering from life-limiting and terminal conditions and offering psychological, spiritual and social support necessary to patients and their families. Their services are free and open to all irrespective of age, gender and religion.

Widely dubbed as a trendsetter in Konkani movies, ‘Noshibacho Khell’ is directed by a well-known Bollywood/Bhojpuri/Marathi movie director Harry Fernandes. Harry, who hails from Barkur has directed movies in eight different languages to his credit and ‘Noshibacho Khell’ is his first shot at Konkani. Henry D’Silva Surathkal, a familiar figure to Konkani theatre lovers through his eight stage plays including the super hit ‘Kazara Uprath’ is the writer and producer. Henry D’Silva is expected to be in Melbourne when the movie is screened.

 

Ester Noronha, the Mangulurean sensation who has made a name in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tulu films plays the lead role in the movie. Elton Mascarenhas, a fine choreographer of ‘Nach Baliye’ fame and a house hold name in top shows on national television is the male lead role. Ranjitha Lewis who made her debut in this movie along with Elton is the second female lead. Alwyn Andrade, Sujatha Andrade, Stany Alvares, Kishoo Barkur, Denis Monteiro and Arun Raj Rodrigues are a few names with plenty of experience in Konkani theatre amongst the thirty odd actors who have showcased their talents playing important roles. Clenwin D’Souza, a Kalakul trained actor has excelled in his negative role.

 

Prince Jacob, a radio RJ and a comedy sensation from Goa who is a house hold name in Konkani theatre and movie industry will keep you entertained throughout the movie with his comedy. Known as the ‘Comedy Prince of Goa’ a humble and down to earth celebrity, he has impressed one and all with his unmatching acting talent in the movie. Prince Jacob’s character provides some rib tickling moments that would evoke genuine laughter.

 

The movie has eight songs which have carved a niche of its own; the lyrics are penned by Eric Ozario, Roshan D’Souza, Wilson Olivera and Gunwant Sen with the music provided by the last two. A special attraction is a couple of songs dubbed from Marathi albums, a language colloquially considered close to Konkani, which have set a new trend in Konkani film music. Babitha Pinto, Wilson Olivera, Jacqueline Fernandes, Shilpa Cutinho, Vivet D’Souza, Antony Tauro, Nephie Rod and others have lent their melodious voices. The action stunts are directed by Action Director Sunil Rodrigues of ‘Dilwale’ fame. Shafique Sheikh, a well-known Bollywood cameraman regales with the lens. The movie has been shot extensively against pristine coastal backdrop in Barkur, Sastan, Mangaluru and multiple locations in Mumbai in simple settings showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Mangaluru to the whole world.

 

The cast itself speaks the quality of the movie, with all the major roles being played by experienced actors of the industry, a convergence of young and old minds. It has a fabulous story line that has been portrayed stunningly. The two-and-a-half hour movie has been hailed for its wonderful camera work, superb acting, action, editing, enchanting music and technical brilliance in par with contemporary movies from other leading Indian languages. The cinematography and dialogues are beautifully interwoven bringing nostalgic memories for all Konkani lovers. There is a lot of suspense spread throughout the movie that would keep all at the edge of their seats.
