Udupi/M’Belle: Lalaji R. Mendon attends the Valedictory Function of the Annual Special NSS Camp

Udupi/M’Belle, 17 Oct: Lalaji R. Mendon, MLA of Kaup Constituency participated in the Valedictory Function of the NSS Annual Special Camp of St. Lawrence PU College, Moodubelle on Wednesday, 17 October 2018 at 10.30 am. In his key-note address to the NSS volunteers, Lalaji R. Mendon said that throughout India National Service Scheme (NSS) in colleges was introduced on the birth centenary of Mahatma Gandhi. This year, the NSS organization completes 50 years of its service to the nation. Speaking further, Lalaji R. Mendon said that NSS camps are very important in the sense that they inculcate the sense of discipline, self-reliance, leadership qualities, time management and mutual respect and cooperation among the students which would  enable them to develop fine qualities and help them in their career and life.

 

The valedictory function began with prayer and welcome by Naveen Correa, Principal of St. Lawrence PU College. Thereafter, two NSS volunteers,  Loy Fernandes and Merline Mendonca narrated their experience in the Camp. 

 

Prizes were distributed to the NSS volunteers who had excelled in sports and cultural activities. Dilip Kumar, Associate Programme Officer of NSS read the names of the winners. Guests on the dais distributed the prizes. All participants in the camp were given mementos. Those who had helped in conducting the annual camp, especially by providing amenities to the NSS volunteers were also honoured by Fr. Lawrence Cutinha by presenting them mementos.

 

 

Ln. Ivan D’Almeida-President of Lions Club of Moodubelle, Maxim D’Sa-President of Old Students Association, Gerald Fernandes-President of PTA and Fr. Lawrence Cutinha also spoke on this occasion appreciating the successful completion of the annual camp.

 

Mrs. Sujata Suvarna-member of Udupi Taluk Panchayat, Mrs. Latha D’Mello-Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council, Ivan D’Souza-President of  PTA, Church Aided Higher Primary School, Ms. Shruthi R. NSS Programme Coordination and camp-in-charge and Sudhir Dhondya-NSS stuent leader were present on the dais.

 

Ms. Shruthi R. proposed the vote of thanks and Ms. Akshatha compeered the programme.
