Udupi: Free Eye, Diabetes Check up and Blood Grouping Camp held at Lions Club, Moodubelle

Udupi, 23 Sep 2018: Free Eye and diabetic check up as well as blood grouping camp was held at Lions Seva Bhavan, Moodubelle on Sunday, 23 September 2018 from 9.30 am to 1 pm. The camp was held under the auspices of  Lions and Leo Club, Moodubelle, Prasad Netralaya, Udupi, Netra Jyothi Charitable Trust, Udupi, District Health Department, ICYM, Moodueblle, Health Commission of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle, Vyasaraya Ballal and Family, Mumbai and Chavan Institute of Paramedical Science, Udupi.

 

The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Nityananda Nayak, Eye Specialist along with Dr. Cris D’Souza of Prasad Netralaya, Ln. P.A. Bhat of Chavan Institute of Paramedical Science, Ln. Sunil Salian-Cabinet Secretary of Lions District 317C, Ln. Gerald Fernandes-Zone Chairman, Ln. Ivan D’Almeida-President Lions Club, Moodubelle, Ln. Joseph Martis-Secretary, Mrs. Precilla Alva-President of Health Commission, St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle, Joswin D’Mello-President of ICYM, Sharline D’Almeida-President of Leo Club, Moodubelle.

 

Ln. Gerald Fernandes in his introductory remarks said that since 21 years Lions Club, Moodubelle has been conducting free eye camp. This year along with free eye camp, diabetes check up as well as bold grouping camp has been organized which would benefit a large number of people from Moodubelle and surrounding villages. 

Dr. Nityanada Nayak in his message highlighted various types of ailments of eye such as cataract and glaucoma. He advised the parents to keep away their children from mobiles so that they would not damage their eyes at an early age. He also pointed out the importance of eye donation.

 

Ln. P.A. Bhat emphasized on the prevention of any ailment rather than finding remedy later. 

 

Ln. Sunil Salian in his address said that one of the chief programmes of Lions Clubs International is ‘sight for the sightless’. In that respect he appreciated the camp organized by the Lions Club of Moodubelle and wished success to the camp. 

 

Around 175 persons took advantage of the free eye camp. Around 200 persons had their diabetic check up and bold grouping. 

 

Ln. Ivan D’Almeida welcomed the gathering, Ln. Joseph Martis proposed the vote of thanks and Leo Joy Fernandes and Ln. Maxim D’Sa compered the programme.
