Mumbai: Oldest Durga Puja in north Mumbai shifted to Tobacco House, Ville Parle (W)

Mumbai, 20 Sep 2018: The oldest Durga Puja in Mumbai, popularly known as North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja Samiti is all set to change its venue from Tulip Star, Juhu to Golden Tobacco Limited, Tobacco House, S V Road, Vile Parle (West), Mumbai, Maharashtra 400 056.
They have been organizing this grand puja celebration for the last 71 years. North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja Samiti who have been organizing Durga Puja since the last 5-7 years at Tulip Star were compelled to change its well-known venue due to Tulip Star property dispute.
Veteran actor and organizer of Debu Mukherjee and Krishna Mukherjee said, ‘We had to shift the venue because, with Maa Durga’s blessings Tulip Star has settled their dispute and reopening as V Hotels very soon. Year’s back it was shut down due to legal dispute, which is why we decided to keep our Durga Puja at Tulip Star, Juhu. Now since they are in the process to reopen the venue, we decided to shift our venue"
Over the years, the celebrations have grown by ten folds, and with maximum participation from people, the organizers felt the need to shift the venue due to space constraint. Also over the years the footfall has increased. Thankfully, the new place is bigger and will be able to accommodate more devotees, added Debu Mukherjee and Krishna Mukherjee.
