ICYM Udupi Deanery level Family Feast organized at Moodubelle

Udupi, 9 Sep 2018: Following the celebration of the Feast of the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary (Monti Festh) on Saturday, 8 September 2018, the ICYM of Udupi Deanery observed ‘Family Day’ at St. Lawrence PU College Hall, Moodubelle on Sunday, 9 September.  ICYM members from nine parishes of the Udupi Deanery participated in this event.

 

The ICYM Udupi Deanery ‘Family Day’ was inaugurated by Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Parish Priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi and Dean of Udupi Varado by unfurling a bunch of  coconut flowers . He was accompanied by Fr. Lawrence Cutinha, Assistant Parish Priest of Moodubelle and Director of ICYM Udupi Deanery, Dr. Judith Lobo-resource person of the day, Vincent Fernandes-Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council, Mrs. Latha D’Mello-Secreaty,  Valerian Noronha and Mrs. Anita Alva-Animators of ICYM Moodubelle, Vilton D’Souza-President of ICYM Udupi Deanery, Fiona D’Souza-Secretary of ICYM Udupi Deaneery, Sara D’Souza-Secretary of ICYM Udupi Diocese and Joswin D’Mello-President of ICYM Moodubelle Unit.

 

Edna Menezes introduced the resource person of the day, Dr. Judith Lobo.

 

In her address, Dr. Judith Lobo stressed on the importance of family and prayer. She pointed out the need of family in the upbringing of children and the youth. She also impressed upon the youth the need  of family support and guidance in shaping their personality and future.

 

Fr. Valerian Mendonca in his message expressed happiness that the ICYM of Udupi Deanery thought of organizing g the family day in the wake of Monti  Festh. He highlighted the importance of Catholic Educational Institutions in inculcating Christian values.

 

Vilton D’Souza welcomed the gathering,  Fiona D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks and  Carol Quadros compered the programme.

 

 

Soon after the stage programme, Rosania Cardoza of Udyavar parish conducted games.

 

Ancita D’Souza of Moodubelle conducted the Quiz Competition.

 

The most important part of the ‘Family Day’ was the community meal that was prepared by the ICYM members  from different parishes.

 

Fresh juice for welcome drink was prepared by the iCYM Unit of Udyava; vegetable salad and fruit salad was from Manipal; Pathrade and chutney from Kuntalnagar;  Mixed vegetable dish and chana from Kalmady;  allum –Dento from  Udupi; Mude and Kurma from Katapady, vorn (payasam) frm Preampalli; and rice, saar and pickle from Moodubelle.

 

All the ICYM members, around 175 sat on the floor for the community meal. The different items of food were served by  ICYM volunteers.

 

Fr. Alban D’Souza-Parish Priest of Kalmady, Fr. Anil D’Souza-Parish Priest of Perampalli, Fr. Wilson D’Souzaa-Parish Priest of Kuntalnagar, Fr. Ronson D’Souza-Parish Priest of Katapady, Fr. Rowlin Aranha-Asssitant Parish Priest of Udyavar and Fr. Lawrence Cutinha participated in the community meal.

 

After the meals, Fr. Anil D’Souza appreciated the efforts of the ICYM members from different parishes of Udupi Deanery in organizing the ‘Family Day’ and preparing different items of food that was served.
