Bantwal: School children learn basics of paddy farming at Vittal

Bantwal, 16 Jul 2018: The school children wore traditional headgear that the farmhands wear whilst working in a paddy field to shield rains ……joined chorus for Tulu folk singing when they spent a day in the field with full of joy and enthusiasm.
The students of Vittal Government Model Higher Primary School, near here, spent a day in a paddy field owned by the late Shivappa and Shantamma Gowda at Basavanagudi, Vittal, here. The locals Padmanabha Gowda, Narayana Gowda, B R C Bantwal, Ramanna Gowda, Giriyappa Gowda, Karunakar Gowda, Rukmayya Gowda and Nagesh Gowda led the students and explained the different process of farming activities. R K Arts, Vittal collaborated in this programme.
The students learnt of paddy cultivation by live demonstration using tiller, plucking sapling etc. They also played games in the silted paddy field.
The programme was inaugurated by Veerappa Moolya through pouring milk to paddy field.
Vittal town panchayat president Arun M Vittal, vice president Jayant, member Chandrakanti Shetty, school betterment Committee honorary president Subraya Pai, president Jagannat Kasargod, Krishnayya K Vittal, Rajesh of R J Arts, Chandalike School headmaster Vishwanat Gowda, head teacher Bhagirati, other teachers, students and their parents were present.
