12-year-old murdered by his teen sister’s rapists in Punjab

Patiala, 21 Jun 2018: The case of mysterious death of a 12-year-old boy in a village in Patiala, found hanging from the ceiling of his house on June 15, has been cracked. The police have charged three men from the same village with not only killing the boy but also raping his minor sister.

 

Officials say the boy was strangulated by the accused after he caught them raping his 14-year-old sister. The three men then hanged the body from the ceiling to make it look like a suicide and threatened the girl with killing her parents as well if she revealed anything to them.

 

The parents were out of the house on June 15 as they were attending the cremation of a villager and the boy’s sister was alone at home. The three accused allegedly forcibly entered the house and raped the girl.

 

The boy, who was playing in the open nearby, returned home and found the main gate locked. He entered the house by scaling the boundary wall and saw the three accused raping his sister. As he tried to raise an alarm, the three caught him and strangulated him in a bid to silence him. They hanged the body from a hook in the ceiling using a cloth to make it look like a suicide.

 

The parents, who work as labourers, returned home and found the boy’s body and informed the police.

 

Both the parents and police refused to buy the suicide theory from the start. The parents had initially alleged that the boy’s maternal uncle could have murdered the boy because of some old resentment. The police finally approached the girl, suspecting that she knew more than what she was revealing. She finally broke down and narrated the entire story.

 

The police said after the revelations they have registered a fresh case and included sections related to murder, rape and criminal conspiracy against the three them who are in their 20’s. They have also been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

 

All the three are absconding with police teams trying to track them down. Officials said they had an idea about their hideout and expected to arrest them soon.
