Udupi: Spring Zone Social organized by Lions Club, Moodubelle

Udupi, 20 Apr 2018: The Spring Zone Social of Zone III, Region IV of Lion District 317C was organized by the Lions Club of Moodubelle on Thursday, 19 April, 2018 at the renovated Lions Seva Bhavan, Moodubelle. Ln. Elias D’Souza, Zone Chairman was the chief guest of the function.

 

The Spring Zone Social was presided over by Ln. Gerald Fernandes-President of the Lions Club of Moodubelle. Ln. Devdas Hebbar-Region Advisor, Ln. Henry Fernandes-Secretary and Ln. Vinod  Castelino-Treasurer were also on the dais.

 

Office bearers and members of Lion Clubs included in Zone III-Pernal, Belman, Mundkur Kadandale, Palli Ninjoor, Mudarangadi and Kaup as well as invitees from Shirva Lions Club participated in the Spring Zone Social.

 

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Ln. Elias D’Souza said that in the centenary year of the foundation of the Lions Club International by Melwyn Jones, the Lions Clubs and their office bearers and members have greater responsibility and rendering service to humanity in various fields. He said that any organization can progress provided such organizations develop good leadership. Leaders should have a vision and mission that can fulfill the aims and objectives of the organization. Ln. Elias further said that Lions Clubs International provides ample opportunities for the development of leadership qualities among its members. However, it is important that these leaders should dedicate themselves in achieving the goals of their respective Lions Clubs and  undertake service activities that are beneficial to the society.

 

 

On this occasion, three meritorious students were felicitated. Miss Gladys D’Souza  of Karkala who secured third rank in the Mangalore University in MA-History in 2014, presently serving as a lecturer in SVT College, Karkala; Miss Sarita D’Souza of Moodubelle who secured eighth rank in MCom in the Mangalore University in 2018, presently studying B. Ed. In TMA Pai Institute, Manipal; and Miss Larissa Menezes of  Don Bosco High School-Shirva who secured seventh rank in Karnataka State in SSLC, presently student of Poorna Prajna College, Uudpi.

 

Office bearers of different members clubs included in Zone III were also honoured by Zone Chairman Ln. Elias D’Souza during the Spring Zone Social.

 

As a coincidence, the day also happened to be the birthday of Ln. Elias D’Souza’s daughter Melwina D’Souza and President of Lions Club of Moodubelle, Ln. Gerald Fernandes. Both celebrated their birthdays by cutting cakes along with their respective families.

 

Ln. Gerald Fernandes welcomed the gathering, Ln. Henry Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks and Mrs. Lilly Lobo compeered the programme.
