The inaugural function began with emcee of the day Ms. Swetha inviting all the honourable guests to the dais and followed by a Prayer Song by College Choir Team. Prof.) introduced the details of the fest and the competition to be held later on.

All the dignitaries on dais joined in lighting the traditional lamp and officially inaugurated the ZEST-2018 FEST.

In his key address to the students, Principal Rajan said “Zest is an opportunity for each one of you where you can simulate your potentiality.  What is knowledge today is not only acquiring knowledge and information available and it is to destroy our ignorance that makes difference in our life, career and achievement. In the beginning of our education, if  each one us say ourselves, I think, I question, I desire, I create, I struggle, I collaborate, I try, I invent, I reflect, that means the education is already started.  Innovation is the key for our success in life.”

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Prof. Sadashiv said that “Students life consist of two main parts, preparation for exams and preparation for life. What is the best part of students’ life and what is the happy moment for students and they will say, it is the day exams are over. It is because students have been studying and preparing for the exam for a very long time and hence when it gets over, they are extremely happy and relaxed.” He further said that it is important also to organize some events in the school besides regular classes and exams. Exams held only for your educational performance and not for your overall performances. By organizing events, the students learn skills of organizing, public speaking and expressing and enhancing your hidden talents as well. The competitions will help you out to determine your self-performance, skills and talents. We attend events organized by other schools/colleges but we just attend and not get the opportunity to organize the events.  That’s why it is very important to organize programs like you have done today i.e. ZEST-2018 wherein right from the coordinator to the stage decorator, banners, ad tools and so many behind the scene activities that are put into this event and that will teach you in your future life when you stand on your own feet and that skills will definitely help you out in your life and will give an edge over others to shine and perform he said.

Speaking on the occasion President of the event Fr. Stany Tauro congratulated the students for holding the ZEST-2018 and wished them all success. He further said that this is the first time PG College is holding an important event and let this be the beginning and let more and he hoped more programs shall be held in future and in this regard I will congratulate our PG Students. He also congratulated for the 100% results bagged by MCom students in the 3rd semester. Regarding to the competition part ZEST he compared the competition to a proverb “Slow and study wins the race” and he gave an example of hare and tortoise race which eventually won by Tortoise over much faster runner Hare. He said though the Hare is fast but it was lazy, got tired easily and just slept when it is important to reach the end mark. Similarly he said, the students some time tend to go slow day by day. Initially, some are very aggressive but slowly, they lose interest and go backward and give the opportunity to those who study quietly and perform. He said there is only one rule in life, either you flourish or perish.
